Biography
Originally from Saltcoats, SK, Singer/Songwriter/Actor Ellen Kolenick has been performing since high school. In addition to studying two years at the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, BC, past productions include touring with Saskatchewan Express, singing and dancing for Spirit of a Nation in Sydney, BC singing on Norwegian Cruise Lines, performing in Persephone Theatre's 'Evita' and 'Tune Town', being featured as a Saskatchewan house band in CTV's JUNO coverage, landing television roles on 'Rabbit Fall' and 'Corner Gas' (the episode starring our Premiere Brad Wall!) and, most recently, releasing her debut album of originals entitled 'dear john', which receives airtime on CBC Saskatchewan, Vancouver and Kelowna as well as the Canadian Singer/Songwriter Internet Channel.
Ellen's musical entourage includes some of Saskatoon's most established musicians. Ross Nykiforuk, keyboardist for The Northern Pikes, is a Gemini nominated film and tv composer who produced Ellen's debut album.
He is also the co-owner of Saskatoon's newest recording facility 'glennross' studios. Ellen's album also includes, Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra Cellist, Carman Rabuka and the lead singer/guitar player for Saskatoon's funk and soul band 'Absolfunkinlutely' - Randy Woods.
All three join her for most live shows.
Ellen is now starting to sing with Saskatoon's 'Straight from the Fridge.'
